With all the new talk of organic and natural ingredients, you might be wondering if there are any types of things that you could make, organically, at home. The answer is YES.  A vast array of skin care products can be made with all natural ingredients like herbs and essential oils

Below is a recipe for making your own lip balm.

  Ingredients you will need:
– your favorite essential oil
– almond oil
– jojoba oil
– beeswax
– honey
– vitamin E capsules
– glass container
– plastic or aluminum lip gloss containers

Making your own lip balm is really quite simple. Get a glass container, about a quart in size (a glass canning jar, for example). Fill a pan half full with water and turn on the heat about halfway.

Add to the jar the following: 1/2 cup of sweet almond oil, 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil, 2 tablespoons of beeswax pellets

Hold the top of the jar with a potholder or kitchen glove while the contents are heating. Stir contents until the beeswax is completely melted.

Stir in the following: 2 tablespoons of honey, 5 vitamin E capsules

Once the honey has mixed thoroughly with the rest of the contents. Remove the jar from the heat.

Stir in approximately 25-30 drops of your favorite essential oil (peppermint, lavendar, etc). Pour the end result into your empty containers. These should be cooled to room temperature before putting the covers on.

You should end up with about 8 ounces of your favorite lip balm.  For creamier balm, add a little less beeswax.  Don’t forget to turn off your stove, and use an oven mitt to handle the hot containers

Girls out there…lets try something new today ! =)
